Moving to Manteca — what should I know?

I got a job offer in Manteca, CA and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a mid-size city. A few questions:

1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1500-2300 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime rate accurate for day-to-day life?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?

Thanks in advance!

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 8/10.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Oakwood. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

As someone who moved here from Miami, I can confirm most of this. The weather surprised me the most.

Rent tip: look for places in fall. Prices drop and there's more availability.

If you can afford it, Cedar Hills is the best place to live. Period.
