Relocating to Manvel, TX -pros and cons?

Been meaning to ask this. The weather takes some getting used to. Is this normal for Manvel? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Baltimore about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'm a project manager and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is decent and there's always something going on.
