Curious what people think. I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,702/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely solid and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The cost of living is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in South for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- The cultural scene scene is excellent
