Is Marble Falls still affordable?

Hey everyone, We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 0.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $294,900 on average. Rent is about $1,377/month for a decent place. Median household income is $55,511, which feels about average for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 5 years. Moved from Dallas for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is improving - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Baltimore about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.
