Just moved to Marble Falls, any tips?

Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Marble Falls sits at 326.4 per 100K. Poverty rate is 11.9%, which is around average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. Appreciate any input. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I've lived in South for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The cultural scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 14 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.

No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Midtown area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

People: Generally tough. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..
