Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
