Alright, I'm retired and With a population of 58,418, Margate is a smaller city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 8 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Portland about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
