Honest thoughts on life in Marianna

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $73,800, which is actually reasonable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Marianna?

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much manageable but now it's solid.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Houston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.
