Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 5 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 13 years. Moved from San Francisco for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Limited high-paying job options. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- The job market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
