Relocating to Maricopa, AZ -pros and cons?

Anyone else feel this way? We have two kids and Median household income is $94,208, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 62,986, Maricopa is a smaller city. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..
