Affordable areas near Maricopa?

Hey, I'm single, late 20s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Maricopa sits at 517.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $121,800 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Downtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 6 years. Moved from Portland for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Can feel isolated. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
