Marietta vs San Diego -which is better?

Hey folks, We have two kids and Poverty rate is 7.9%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
