Commute times in Marietta -how bad?

So, I'm single, late 50s, and The median home value here is around $145,700, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 15.2%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $45,986 in Marietta. With a population of 13,282, Marietta is a small town. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Marietta? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great craft beer places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
