Things Marietta needs to improve

Hello, Born and raised here. Poverty rate is 15.2%, which is higher than I expected. Crime rate is something to consider -Marietta sits at 125.5 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
