What surprised you most about Marion?

Just moved here 18 months ago and Homes are going for about $145,300 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Worth the trade-offs? Cheers. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely pretty good and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
