Been meaning to ask this. I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $105,900, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to San Diego it's tough.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Riverside area are underrated. Kids love it here.
