Hello, I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $105,900, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $848/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Is this normal for Marion? Appreciate any input.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Fairview for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The nightlife scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the East side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.
