Moving to Marlboro Village for work -advice?

Hey everyone, You can expect to pay around $2,153 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Does this match your experience?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in West area are improving. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Seattle it's decent.
