First post here. Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $485,400, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $485,400 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Eastside area are tough. Kids love it here.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The traffic is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 10 years. Moved from Seattle for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Homeless population growing downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.
