Things that make Marlinton unique

Been meaning to ask this. Homes are going for about $90,500 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Marlinton? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is challenging in most areas.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great craft beer places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a software engineer and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.
