I work in insurance and With a population of 20,691, Marquette is a small town. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $958 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I'm a data analyst and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The job market is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
