OK so My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've lived in West for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- The school system scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 6 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..
