Things that make Marrero unique

Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's a a smaller city city with about 31,866 people. Rent is about $997/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. What do you all think? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..
