Anyone work in healthcare in Marshall?

Hey folks, I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $742/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $64,636 in Marshall. Average temperature is around 45--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $198,900, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Is this normal for Marshall? Cheers. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Old Town area are solid. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The walkability is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 27, moved here 6 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The safety situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for retirees. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to New York it's tough.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 8 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
