I've lived in Springfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Phoenix it's average.

I work in engineering here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Good luck with whatever you decide..
