Unpopular opinion about Marshalltown

So, I'm a 29-year-old chef and The median home value here is around $117,100, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $864 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thoughts? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I'm a electrician and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The traffic scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.
