Curious what people think. I work in energy and Median household income is $67,134, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $201,300, which is actually reasonable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Let me know your thoughts.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
