I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Marshfield sits at 159.2 per 100K. Median household income is $59,294, which feels about average for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it exceeded my expectations.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 10 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 34, moved here 1 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Westside and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Eastside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The nightlife scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
