Thinking about relocating to Marshfield from Indianapolis
Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $59,294 in Marshfield. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 10 years. Moved from LA for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is tough - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Dating scene is rough. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Fairview) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Riverside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much competitive but now it's excellent.
