What to expect moving to Martha Lake?

Hi all, With a population of 22,740, Martha Lake is a small town. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $132,130 in Martha Lake. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Riverside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
