Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and Median household income is $41,510, which feels on the lower side for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Riverside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 8 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Salt Lake City it's decent.

I've been here 12 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

I've lived in Highland for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..
