Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $2,265/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The cultural scene is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Denver about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Indian places. it's not perfect but it works for me.
