Weekend activities in Martinez?

First post here. I've been here for 10 years and Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Boston it's decent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
