Curious what people think. I work in manufacturing and Crime rate is something to consider -Martinez sits at 31.6 per 100K. Median household income is $85,617, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $231,400, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? Appreciate any input. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
