Remote worker thinking about Martinsville

We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.
