I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Crime rate is something to consider -Martinsville sits at 164.2 per 100K. Homes are going for about $702,700 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
