Unpopular opinion about Martinsville

Longtime lurker here, Been living here since 2006. Household incomes average around $42,434 in Martinsville. Rent is about $784/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 13,584, Martinsville is a small town. The median home value here is around $92,500, which is actually reasonable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
