Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 2,105 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I work in government here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is underrated. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The walkability scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The public transit is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 13 years. Moved from Miami for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Homeless population growing downtown. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

I've been in Riverside for 11 years. Moved from New York for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
