Homes are going for about $215,300 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,981 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The traffic is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Boston it's tough.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
