Maryland Heights is underrated, change my mind

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,981 people. Rent is about $1,217/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Portland about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..
