Things that make Maryland Heights unique

Been living here since 2019. Crime rate is something to consider -Maryland Heights sits at 207.7 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,981 people. Poverty rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,217/month for a decent place. Median household income is $86,485, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's improving.
