Day-to-day life in Marysville, CA

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and You can expect to pay around $1,223 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Hope this helps!.
