What to expect moving to Marysville?

First post here. It's a a small town city with about 12,703 people. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 12,703, Marysville is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Marysville sits at 922.7 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 4.5%, which is about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.

No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..
