Is Marysville getting better or worse?

Hey, I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Marysville sits at 202.6 per 100K. The median home value here is around $521,500, which is pretty steep. It's a a smaller city city with about 71,570 people. Poverty rate is 5.2%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What would you do? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
