Quick question about Maryville

First post here. Median household income is $100,813, which feels pretty solid for the area.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Raleigh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The food scene is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 4 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
