Is Maryville good for remote workers?

Random thought, I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $310,600, which seems about average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thanks! The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely decent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Phoenix it's improving.

I've lived in Springfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The dating scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
