Anyone else feel this way? Poverty rate is 0.9%, which is pretty low.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The cost of living is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much growing but now it's challenging.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Westside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
