There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 14 years. Moved from Nashville for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is tough - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not very walkable outside downtown. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
