Not sure if this has been asked before, but People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in finance here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is excellent. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Midtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The walkability scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone about the same since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
