Maud housing prices -when will it stop?

Hi all, I'm a 32-year-old teacher and You can expect to pay around $818 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Maud sits at 242.1 per 100K. Rent is about $818/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 17.9%, which is higher than I expected. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 7 years. Moved from Tampa for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Far from beaches/mountains. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in hospitality here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in West area are better than expected. Kids love it here.
